English verb tenses are intriguing and sometimes kind of "mind bending". I just read of a verb tense called, "future in the past". Go to www.ask.com and search for English verb tenses. It gives me a headache. Can't imagine what it would do for someone studying English as a second language.
The past is in the future. And vice versa. We often try to get away from our past but just when we think we have succeeded it raises it's ugly head. We try to put the past behind us, but continually find the past in our future. Our future is wrapped up in our past and our past is wrapped up in our future.
God's word says, "Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this is what he will reap." Gal. 6:7 Yes, Future in the Past and Past in the Future.
