What in the world am I doing?

Only one life, will soon be past,
only what's done for Christ will last.

Take a couple of minutes to visit

Then ask yourself, "What in the world am I doing?"

True Holiness

"--true holiness does not come from following rules; it comes from following Christ."

--O--

O for a passionate passion for souls,
O for a pity that yearns!
O for the love that loves unto death,
O for the fire that burns!
O for the pure prayer-power that prevails,
That pours itself out for the lost!
Victorious prayer in the Conqueror's Name,
O for a PENTECOST!

Nonsense is good only because common sense is so limited.

Horses could not understand

I was reading about the Welsh Revival at the turn of the last century. In 5-6 month period over 100,000 people were converted to the Lord Jesus Christ. The countryside was changed. Pubs were closed. Police stations became quiet. Horses were no longer able to understand their masters’ commands

There was even a slowdown in the coal mines for a while, since so many Welsh miners were converted and stopped using bad language that the horses that dragged the coal trucks in the mines could not understand any more what was being said to them.

We are in desperate need of revival. One that will make a lasting change on the way we think, act and talk.

It happened before, it can happen again.

Lie Quotes

Gradually I came to realize that people will more readily swallow lies than truth, as if the taste of lies was homey, appetizing: a habit.
Martha Gellhorn

Never forget that a half truth is a whole lie.
Author Unknown

A lie can run around the world before the truth can get it's boots on.
James Watt

If you wish to strengthen a lie, mix a little truth in with it.
Zohar

Repetition does not transform a lie into a truth.
Franklin D. Roosevelt

Please don't lie to me, unless you're absolutely sure I'll never find out the truth.
Ashleigh Brilliant

It is always the best policy to speak the truth--unless, of course, you are an exceptionally good liar.
Jerome K. Jerome

A lie told often enough becomes the truth.
Lenin

The history of our race, and each individual's experience, are sown thick with evidence that a truth is not hard to kill and that a lie told well is immortal.
Mark Twain

The Devil Tips His Hand

Definition: "to tip your hand" is to inadvertently reveal the cards you are holding.

As Christians, we are in a continual spiritual battle against demonic forces, something like Jesus' temptation in the wilderness. Our adversary has been at it for thousands of years so he knows what he is doing. He covers his tracks well attempting to remain undetected as he carries out his nefarious deeds. Rest assured he will never show up in red long-johns and a pointed tail. More likely he will disguise himself as "an angel of light". (2Cor.11:14)

Years ago, in a land far away, I learned this valuable lesson. Sooner or later the devil will tip his hand.

He can disguise his appearnce but he always acts according to his character. "The devil is in the details." If you examine a situation closely you will begin to see his character being revealed.

He is called the "father of lies" Jn 8:44 - lies reveal his working.

He is called the "accuser" Rev 12:10- false accusations reveal his activity. Jesus was accused of being in league with the devil. The devil really put a twist on that one.

He is called the "murderer" Jn 8:44 - murder and character assassination is his forte.

When lies, false accusations and murder are present, that old serpent the devil is not far away. Just make sure he is not in your camp!!

Halitosis of the Mind

Don't speak evil of someone if you don't know for certain, and if you do know ask yourself, why am I telling it?
Johann Kaspar Lavater

A malignant sore throat is a danger, a malignant throat not sore is worse.
American Proverbs

Gossip is sometimes referred to as halitosis of the mind.

Gossiping and lying go hand in hand.

What you don't see with your eyes, don't witness with your mouth.
Jewish Proverbs

Loose tongues are worse than wicked hands.
Jewish Proverbs

An expert gossiper knows how much to leave out of a conversation.

Where no wood is, the fire goes out; so where there is no tale bearer, the strife ceaseth.

Nobody's Friend

NOBODY'S FRIEND

My name is Gossip. I have no respect for justice
I maim without killing. I break hearts and ruin lives.
I am cunning and malicious and gather strength with age.
The more I am quoted the more I am believed.

My victims are helpless.
They cannot protect themselves against me because I have no name and no face.
To trap me down is impossible.
The harder you try, the more elusive I become.

I am nobody’s friend.
Once I tarnish a reputation, it is never the same.
I topple governments and wreck marriages.
I ruin careers and cause sleepless nights, heartaches and indigestion.

I make innocent people cry in their pillows.
Even my name hisses. I am called Gossip.
I make headlines and headaches.
Before you repeat a story, ask yourself:

Is it true? Is it harmless? Is it necessary?

The Blood of Jesus Whispers

Peace, perfect peace, in this dark world of sin?
The blood of Jesus whispers peace within.

Peace, perfect peace, with sorrows surging round?
On Jesus' bosom nothing but calm is found.

Peace, perfect peace, our future all unknown?
Jesus we know, and He is on the throne.

Peace, perfect peace, death shadowing us and ours?
Jesus has vanquished death and all its powers.

It is enough: earth's struggles soon shall cease,
And Jesus, call us to heaven's perfect peace. Amen
